Loved this bright and colourful backyard birthday party so much! It's loveliness is no surprise when a decor dream team is part of the family - {Simple Soiree}! 

These are absolutely my favourite kinds of events to photograph - just little light filled gatherings, casual portraits, and documentary style capturing, -- and best of all, you could tell that the whole evening was bursting full of love for an amazing woman.

Sarah Sovereign Photography and Jennifer Foik Photography are running a giveaway from February 5 to May 1, 2018!

We're trying something a little different!

Here’s how it works:

When you book a session with us any time between February 5-May 1, 2018 you get to nominate one person or family who deserves a free session from us. Tell us why you chose this person/family, and what makes them awesome!

An image from YOUR shoot plus your write up will be entered into our You’re Awesome Giveaway Facebook album and we want others to share encouragement via comments to anyone nominated! Every positive, uplifting comment on the picture/about the person you nominated will count as an extra entry in the contest (Only 1 comment counts per person, but feel free to share the love as many times as you want!)

The drawing will be on May 2, 2018! There are two sessions up for grabs, one with Jennifer Foik Photography, and one with Sarah Sovereign Photography (but hey! We’re going to shoot each winner’s session together!)

Here are the fine details:

- To nominate someone, you must book and complete your session prior to May 1, 2018 (Bookings with Sarah Sovereign Photography or Jennifer Foik Photography will count).

- Winner's session must take place in Chilliwack.

- Final prize is one session, 25 digital files of their choice from a downloadable gallery. Limit of 5 people.

Awesome Little Family | Chilliwack Extended Family Session Photographer

I had the chance this past spring to photograph my dear friend, and fellow photographer, Jennifer Foik's family - they're some of my favourite people, the roses were out at Gwynne Vaughan, and we had perfect shooting weather - we had a blast!

I have been photographing this family since I first met Georgia, a million years ago, at our job in a video store. We spent long shifts talking about movies, making jokes, and eating all the candy available in the store, and I've watched her family grow from a family of four to a family of six (plus two adorable kittens). We got together again this fall to shoot in the beautiful Community Forest (off of Annis Road exit) and the light was absolutely perfect. 

You haven't seen pure joy on a child's face until you let them scream "Diarrhea" in the woods several times. Everleigh's cooperation on the shoot is directly related to that. There is also a certain amount of magic that happens when you just let kids squish together and jump up and down and be goofy and ridiculous in the forest - this is something I love doing so much. As a photographer, I'm not much for posing - I love squishing people, making them laugh, and capturing the genuine expressions that result. Sometimes photo shoots are messy, but sometimes the emotion is in the mess.

I'm so thankful to know this great group of people, and looking back through all of my shoots with them, I can't believe so much time has passed so quickly - but I'm grateful for every minute of it.
