Makers Gonna Make

Three Corners Artisan | Styled Shoot

So many feels for this shoot highlighting artist Aleena Lay Webber's gorgeous work! Aleena is the creative force behind Three Corners Artisan, a local pottery & workshop studio in Chilliwack, B.C. Aleena and I have been shooting together the last couple years, and I'll be honest: often our shoots turn into giant, amazing hours long chats about creativity, project planning, and sometimes like the best kind of indoor lighting for a studio (the struggle is real: tungsten or daylight bulbs people?)

Aleena and I have actually done a number of shoots (and video work!) over the last little while, so I'll be posting those soon, too. Honestly, I could photograph pottery all the live long day - what people can make with their hands is AMAZING, and I love how every potter I've met is able to reflect their own artistic voice and style in the work they create. It's like photography: we all interpret our worlds differently, even when we shoot in the same space.

Something else to know about Aleena: she makes a mean cup of coffee. Dream photographer life: hanging out in cozy studios, watching artists work, drinking great coffee.

This was one of our first shoots together, which should give you a bit of an idea of how far behind I am in blogging.

So many people came together to make this shoot that we (ambitiously) tackled in a day!:

Aleena's hair and makeup were done by Believing in Beauty, Styling by Sequel Events, jewelry by Lost Arrow Designs, florals by Blossom with Quik Pik, and assisted by Aimee.

Check out Aleena's work through her website here, and follow on Facebook to hear info about ladies' night workshops, markets and more.
